About Laughing Cat Designs

Laughing Cat Designs was founded by Gail Anderson-Toombs, an Orcas Island artist. She comes from a family of artists, going back at least 3 generations and already has 2 generations with much talent ahead of her, all with no formal training other than high school art classes.

Gail was raised and lived in Colorado for her first 30 years, except for 3 years in England. She then began a 20 year migration toward the west coast, living in Wyoming and North Idaho, finally reaching Washington in the late 1990’s and making her permanent home on Orcas Island. Now, living and working on a boat with her husband Bob and their cats is occasionally challenging but mostly wonderful. They have 6 adult kids between them and 7 grandkids, plus spouses and in-laws making for a very large and fun family.

Pen & ink and color pencil is one of Gail’s favorite mediums to work in, but she also works in acrylic and mixed medium paintings, fabric arts, beading, glass art, flower art and just about anything that strikes her fancy! She has had her art in farmers’ markets and shows for about 30 years and has had a studio on Orcas, but now mostly sells through her website.

Her art is happy, colorful, whimsical, fun and made to make you smile…..enjoy!

Ordered one of the A-line dresses and love it, great for travel as it doesn't hardly wrinkle! Wore it on the beach as a cover up and later as a dress!

Love the kitchen items! Ordered a tray and matching coffee cups, use them all the time! Have the matching cutting board, too....really brightens up the kitchen. Was easy to order and received it in about 2 weeks from ordering.
